This is purely my own opinion...any software tester who ever dreams of being a smart tester should read the book "Lessons Learned in Software Testing" by the famous 3 musketeers Cem Kaner, James Bach and Bret Pettichord.
The book is ground breaking in the sense that it does not give you "enlightenment" of how a software should be tested with step-by-step procedure as you see in various software testing books instead, it "talks to you. When you read it, it can feel as if these guys are "talking" to you about things which spellbounds the reader.
You can pick this book and start reading it from anywhere (unlike some books I have previously read) and you will still not miss anything. The more you read, the more you get hooked
The topics covered in my opinion, are at core of a what a smart tester generally does (sometimes even without realizing) and are those skills (or art of testing) which no other book has ever covered in such a way.
A must-have book which is something you'll get hooked on and would use as reference again and again and again...
